r A guided tour that sheds a new and fascinating light on some of the most central figures in Dublin’s political and cultural history, who people may not have known were gay. Taking a look at a huge part of our heritage that shamefully, often goes ignored, follow along to some of the most beautiful and interesting places in the city and discover their obscure queer history. Starting at the Oscar Wilde statue at Merrion Square and ending at Dublin Castle, Alternative Dublin have collaborated with writer Sean Egan to devise a tour that promises to be enlightening, enjoyable and informative for all. This Irish-language production of the Greek drama, ‘Persians’ from Irish writer and poet Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill comes to the Abbey Theatre for one month. A take on the play infused with Sean Nós, performed in Irish with English subtitles, it is a work that takes pride in presenting these niche interests to a broad audience in a compelling way, an opportunity to support the arts, the history of the arts and our native tongue rarely presents itself, and is not to be missed.
