Art for Art’s Bake Shine On Art Bakery is the new
ly-opened venture at Nordiska Kompaniet that is exactly what it claims to be – a new bakery where they want to infuse art world culture into their baking. Run by Melanders Group and celebrity baker Johan Sörberg, it will bring art into its baking via Sörberg’s hand-crafted creations, and into its world via its interior design and internal exhibitions. The bakery will also host art exhibitions on its walls, with three or four distinct exhibitions taking place every year. They’ll also have live AW sessions with artists, and the art will be available to purchase on-site. On the menu will be gourmet sandwiches, newly-baked bread and a salad-bar. Sörberg says: “My vision is to create a living bakery with a range that breathes art. The focus will be on taste, colour, innovation and experiment. I’m excited by the opportunities given by Art Bakery and I’m going to produce a flexible menu based on season and availability of ingredients. You’ll also be able to see into the bakery’s kitchen, which will help the guests connect with the feeling of the place”. The bakery will also be regularly visited by seasonal activities and pop-up events. Art Bakery, NK Stockholm Admittedly it’s still a little early to be talking about these things, but the Christmas-New Year’s party season is coming up fast on us. And for the people who like to think about what they’ll be wearing during those parties, Dr. Martens have made their pitch early. They’ve launched versions of their 1460 and Jadon Hi ranges in both sequined and iridescent styles. The sequin range can be brushed to reverse the sequins and change the colour profile, and the iridescent range comes in slick, holographic material. Sequin and iridescent satchels are also included. Both retail at 1,700 kronor, and are available from the web as well as from their store on Söder. It then closed at the end of the sunny season, and you expected that was that for another year. However, plans have changed, and SUS is now working towards having activities all year round. Beginning this winter, with its transformation into a ‘winter wonderland’. The 1,200 square metre park will now host live music and outdoor cinema events all winter, along with more seasonal activities like curling and a winter menu including goulash and warm drinks. “Our bar and restaurant concept is being upgraded to a ‘winter wonderland-edition’”, says Henrik Jakobsen at Stockholm Under Stjärnorna. “The season will be marked with warm drinks and goulash soups, added to our usual range of food and drink. In addition to that, a part of the park will be transformed into a curling arena with five lanes. Our guests can compete against each other in Eisstock, an Austrian version of curling”. The park will be open for the entire winter season. Stockholm Under Stjärnorna, open Wed-Sun, Brunkebergstorget 6
