DIG IN ON CAMDEN STREET Last month saw Steve Murr
ay and Colin Dickson launch an innovative new art, dining and cocktail space in collaboration with world renowned Irish contemporary artist Maser. The newly established Art-Diner houses a collection featuring rare items by artists such as Banksy, Conor Harrington and Vader, while QR encoded menus reveal an eclectic menu where salt beef tacos and Indian pale ale mussels nestle alongside a plentiful choice of coeliac and vegan options. Booze hounds are also well catered for via a decidedly exotic cocktail range, taking its cue from individual art works adorning the walls. The Heliosphere Cocktail for instance, is inspired by a concept artist Chloe Early describes as “the glory of a rise or the danger of a fall.” As they say themselves, “Art always wins.” Tues-Friday, 5pm to late; Sat-Sun: 12pm until late. What’s the story? At time of going to press we were still awaiting news on this front, while timing our creamy takeaways to coincide with tea-time opening hours at our local offie. We’ll also put our carefully sanitized hands up to whiling away the hours lovingly admiring the revamped snugs of the Palace Bar on Fleet Street. SALTY BUOY AHOY! AUGUST REVAMP AT ALLTA Hat tip to the innovative team behind Allta who have managed not one but two pivots so far this year. As reported in these pages last month, the early days of COVID-19 saw them embrace a weekly meal-kit subscription and delivery concept, with their new and hugely successful AlltaBOX offering. Following a well-earned break, plans are now afoot to relaunch this month under the moniker AlltaBoxLive. The details are still under wraps, but on the basis of their current form, this is one culinary initiative we’re very much looking forward to. alltabox.ie Nautical supremo Niall Sabongi has taken to the road with his latest venture, a moveable feast serving up al fresco dishes from the back of a quirkily re-purposed Citroen H. Fans of Sabongi’s signature lobster rolls, crab, shucked oysters and fresh fried daily specials can also look forward to checking out The Shellfish Steamer, a tasty Dublin take on the classic American seafood boil. August finds the Salty Buoy anchored at the home of Baste BBQ off Clanbrassil Street each Wednesday, while weekends see it shacked up at Avon Rí in Blessington. @saltybuoytruck 44
