RANI NAIR Rani Nair works in dance and choreograp
hy. She is interested in ideas of post-colonial conflict and the body in social context. Her interest in the development and expression of identities in dance has prompted her to study various dance practices and experiment with hybrid dance forms. Last year she finished the Mejan Residents, a post-master’s course at the Royal Institute of Arts in Stockholm, Sweden. Future Memory is a second-order performance, dealing with her inheritance of Dixit Dominus, created by Kurt Jooss for the charismatic Indian dancer Lilavati Häger. Performed at the Ignite! Festival in New Delhi (India), Singapore International Festival of Arts, and ImPulsTanz (Vienna) in 2015. Rani Nair collaborates with Kate Elswit, Mia Habib Haugland, Jassem Hindi, Astad Deboo and others. She has been a member of the queer feminist art collective Ful, whose latest project is Europa Europa, created in collaboration with electronic duo The Knife.
