BACKA TEATER For forty years Backa Teater has tri
ed to give voice and body to marginalized teenagers on the outskirts of society. In The Misfits, the theatre’s archive of photos, music and texts serves as a starting point for a further exploration of how the image of “the dangerous other” has been presented – from the long-haired working-class man of the ’70s to the teenager in a hooded jacket or the bearded young Muslim of today. It is an ongoing embodiment, involving 14 actors and 4 musicians, of the attributes used to create the threatening image of the marginalized and dangerous other. The Misfits is coproduced by the Prospero network and is available on tour in fall 2016. Lisa Nowotny | lisa.nowotny@stadsteatern.goteborg.se | www.backateater.se Photo: Ingmar Jernberg.
