Swedish Performing Arts for an International Audie

TEATRO BAÓ Dörrar (“Doors”) is an innovative and
challenging production by Teatro Baó, in which circus acts, swirling music, and poetic narration provide an acerbic commentary on our modern consumer society. Efficiency was the watchword of the industrial age. We created machines in order to work less, but today we are working more than ever, while owning more machines than ever. Dörrar examines the legacy of industrialization and the issues around the consumer society. Using contemporary circus and magic, music, and innovative set design, Teatro Baó weaves a strangely beautiful, constantly surprising, and highly entertaining performance for all ages, languages, and genders. Performers: Magnus Jakobsson, Marta Chaves, Hanna Bylund, Johan Wejstål, Rasmus Blanck. Production supported by the Swedish Arts Grants Committee (2014), Kulturbryggan (2014), the City of Gothenburg (2014), and a project grant from the Swedish Arts Council (2015).
