Exhibition: Snowcrash Snowcrash – a futuristic vi
sion of design and environment crafting that began life as an exhibition by a group of Finnish architects and designers, later became a Stockholm-based company and now returns to exhibition form with this retrospective at Nationalmuseum. It collects works from between 1997 and 2003, when the group’s use of synthetic materials and modern technology pointed to an optimistic and original vision of things to come. At the moment, guests can buy tickets upon arrival at the museum, but maybe better to play it safe and buy in advance. Happily, the Finnish conductor is going out with a bang, with a performance of Jean Sibelius’ seven symphonies in chronological order throughout the month of May. On May 29 he’ll bring the series to the close with the sixth and seventh symphonies, assisted by the Kungliga Filharmonikerna and Johannes Rostamo on cello. You can see it via Konserthuset’s online Play service. Grand Finale IV, Konserthuset Play, May 29 Stockholms Internationella Seriefestival, the city’s annual celebration of comics and illustrated art, is taking place online again this year – you can probably figure out why. Belgian artist Olivier Schrauwen is the main guest this year, whose comic Arsène Schrauwen has just been translated into Swedish. There’ll be events, the usual Small Press Expo, where you can browse a wide range of zines and comics online, and much more. Also guesting is Swedish illustrator Anneli Furmark, who has had the additional privilege of drawing this year’s festival poster. Normally based in Rotterdam, their work operates in an interzone between art, design and discovery, and outside Arkdes this summer they’re installing an exhibition that’s a creative playground that anyone can take part in. It’s a place where Stockholm’s citizens can play, express themselves and learn, with a wide variety of potential activities just waiting for visitors to bring them to life.
