Energy and environment Reference measurements The
moment of truth comes when our customers test our products in their daily environment. Here we present the results of measurements carried out by our customers which demonstrate the potential of our energy-saving solutions. Nynäshamnsbostäder Nynäshamnsbostäder, a housing company, measured the consumption of eight low-energy two-room apartments occupied predominantly by older tenants. The results showed a 26.3 percent reduction in hot water consumption, which means a payback time of three years for the investment in new taps. As an added benefit, the tenants were much more satisfied with the landlord because there was enough hot water to supply all the apartments. “It is important to remember that these are very low-energy consumers: many of these eight tworoom apartments are occupied by older tenants. The payback time would be considerably shorter in a building where more water is used. If four of the apartments were occupied by families with children, the estimated payback time would be 1½ to maximum 2 years. We are delighted with the result, especially with regard to the hot water. That’s what determines our energy management in approximately 80 percent of our properties. If we can bring hot water consumption down even lower, we can cut our power peaks and double our savings.” Ronny Carlsson, maintenance engineer Nynäshamnsbostäder Litres Average daily consumption per apartment 300 250 141 l CW 200 150 100 118 l HW (45,6 %) 50 87 l HW (34,9 %) Conventional mixers 6 Mora ESS single lever system and Eco thermostat Hot water volume reduced by 26.3 % (54,4 %) 162 l CW (65,1 %) Total water volume reduced by 3.9 %
