ROADMAP Peter Steen-Christensen Nowhere Diana Orv
ing, Art in Fashion Diana Orving The essence in her artistic expression is movement, changeability, materiality, body and narrative. Stockholm textile artist and fashion designer Diana Orving is multifaceted, with a distinctive style characterized by an organic feel and movement through layers, volume and beautifully draped fabrics. Her versatility, ranging from playful and stylish garments to creative sculptural showpieces and other textile artworks, is now visible in two very different settings. She’s part of the Art in Fashion exhibition at Sven-Harry’s Konstmuseum, on display until 27 September, and at the same time we can see her spectacular art draperies gracing the interiors of Stockholm’s new high-end restaurant Aira on Djurgården. ”We have become experts in escaping, both mentally and physically, but this year we have suddenly been forced to stop. Instead of that trip abroad, we’re tentatively making our way into nature and discovering the magical places right in front of our noses,” says Mehmet Gürbüzer at Oddbird, the Gothenburg brand with a vision of questioning and changing the alcohol norms of society through creating world class wines liberated from alcohol. In a collaborative effort with design duo Norrmans and chefs Linn Söderström and Marion Ringborg of Garba they have created Nowhere, a summer pop-up restaurant in a south Stockholm nature reserve. Six very socially distanced tables in magnificent locations where the adventure is as much about a state of mind as the natural beauty. Plus great food of course. Serial collaborators Garba, hot on the heels of their June event with food, drink, music, culture and knowledge in support of Black Lives Matter, want the Nowhere experience to strengthen the bond between the diner, their dinner and the natural origins of the ingredients. Nowhere is open 21-22 August, bookings available from 22 June at oddbird. com/nowhere/ 6 Photo: Nicklas Hultman
