Tennstopet’s little sister has arrived On Novembe
r 5th, the doors finally opened at Tennstopet’s Grill, nestled in beside classic Stockholm eaterie Tennstopet on Odengatan. One of the longest-serving restaurants on the Stockholm food scene, Tennstopet underwent major refurbishing this year, and also grabbed the opportunity to get their hands on the keys to next door. A raging pandemic and some challenges with ventilation caused a delay in opening, but now this little sister restaurant is finally ready to greet its hungry visitors. Tennstopet Grill can house 70 seated guests across three floors and has a large bar section with a view from the windows looking out over the street. The menu consists of meat, fish and other seafood, plus some of Tennstopet’s well-known classics. Tennstopet Grill, Odengatan 72, open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday. Pubgrub New gastro pub The Old Brewer aims to change your view of a pub. Englishman Tim Barbour, part owner of Stockholm Gastropubs, wants to create a modern version of the British gastro pub with this new project. The restaurant can fit about 50 guests and offers modern European food with both British and Swedish influences. Apart from the food, the beer obviously takes centre stage and a generous supply of both local and international craft beers will accompany its food, together with a seasonal wine list. The Old Brewer is situated at Luntmakargatan 98, a street with a historic connection to beers and brewing due to the brewery that was located here from 1722. “The Old Brewer is our respectful homage to the area’s roots and we want to contribute to making this street famous once again for excellent beers, but we want to do it in our own way. I live in the area and want to give my newfound neighbourhood the perfect spot for great food and drinks,” says Barbour. Burger brilliance Hamburger review site burgerdudes.se carries the weight of the views of the nation’s biggest hamburger aficionados, so when they talk, burger fans ought to listen. They recently released their list of Sweden’s 100 best burgers, and among them we find six Stockholm restaurants in the top ten. At the very top they’ve placed Funky Chicken Food Truck (usually parked in Nacka Strand). According to Burgerdudes: “The burger is pure street food bliss, a gooey taste explosion that oozes meat juices. The juicy patty has an amazing crust, and is packed with flavour. The brioche bun is deceptively light and airy – almost to a fault. Funky Chicken Food Truck provides a real burger punch that hits the spot every time, Sweden’s best burger”. Flippin’ Burgers placed second, Barrels Burgers and Beers came third, Bun Meat Bun were in fourth place, Stigbergets fot placed sixth, and “Stockholm’s best kept burger secret” Franky’s found a home at number nine on the list. 21
