ROADMAP Peter Steen-Christensen The Winter Negron
i Dressed for the holidays Named after a shortened version of a word meaning ‘warmed up’, glögg is of course an integral part of the lead up to a Stockholm Christmas. There’s a swarm of drinkmakers that have made a tradition of making a new version of it each year. One of the most interesting participants are also one of the most local, gin distillery Stockholms Bränneri, at home on Södermalm, who released a gin & tonic-glögg that made waves in drinking circles in previous years. This winter though, it’s been replaced by a ready-mixed bottled version of a ‘winter negroni’. “This year we take it a step further with a new interpretation, but simultaneously we came closer to what a classic glögg contains - warm notes of berries, Christmas spices, and sweetness that now marries the deep taste and well-balanced bitterness of the negroni”, explains Erik Hasselgärde at Stockholms Bränneri. Stockholms Bränneri Winter Negroni is available at Systembolaget, 192 kronor. As is customary around this time of year, Svenskt Tenn – the classic interior design company and shop situated on Strandvägen – present a magical Christmas display. Only this time the usual opening will be replaced by a digital tour of the Christmas-attired store. “We want to provide as many people as possible with the opportunity to experience the magic of the store on Strandvägen, despite the current circumstances. The viewers will get a chance to obtain inspiration and ideas regarding Christmas table settings, flower arrangements, Christmas presents and how to decorate your Christmas tree. It will be an inspirational moment,” says Thommy Bindefeld, creative director at Svenskt Tenn. See: svenskttenn.se/en/christmas-at-the-store/ Lina Iris Viktor, from Dark Continent Black and gold British-Liberian conceptual artist Lina Iris Viktor created an evocative series of works called Dark Continent between 2016 and 2019. And from that, 50 works have been handpicked for a thought-provoking exhibition that is currently on display at Fotografiska. The black and gold based art in the Dark Testament exhibition are intricate works infused with the complex cultural histories of the global African diaspora. They constitute a bold reclamation of historical and transcultural reimagining, designed to engage viewers and offer a space for reflection. Pretty much as all successful art is designed to do. Dark Testament, on display at Fotografiska until January. Among the world’s best Tjoget did it again. The Hornstull bar has, for the fifth year running, made it onto the World’s 50 Best Bars list. This time they placed number 36, actually a step up from last year. And if you really put the effort into tasting them. I think you can make out that the cocktails are ever so slightly better tasting this year. 6
