Bleck Brunch Comic Crazy It’s the favourite time
of year of all comic fans as Stockholms Internationella Seriefestival lands once again this April. With its usual venue Kulturhuset out of action due to renovations, this year’s edition will be held at Konstfack, but that doesn’t mean there are any plans to scale back the schedule. There’ll be talks with Swedish and international comic artists including Ellen Ekman (Lilla Berlin), Sara Bergmark Elfgren and Karl Johnson, as well as workshops, fanzines, youth events and more. There will also be exhibitions on-site at Konstfack, as well as at Stockholms Stadsbibliotek. Stockholms Internationella Seriefestival, Konstfack, Apr 6-7 ROADMAP Austin Maloney “Ambitions are sky high”: Söder restaurant and bar Bleck have been planning the launch of their weekend brunch for a while now, and the start of March finally saw them get started. You can expect all the brunch classic dining options, a chill Bleck atmosphere and a location that’s only going to get more pleasant as we move towards the sun warming up south Södermalm. Bleck, Lilla Blecktornsparken Art For Market’s Sake Hornstull Marknad Returns Another classic sign of the spring in Stockholm, the long-established Hornstulls Marknad will be back this April. At this point, you should be more than familiar with how it all works – art, design, food, books and various knick-knacks will all be on offer, and if you’re in the mood to sell your own creations you can even hire a table yourself. There’ll also be food trucks, so you can grab a bite if you’re planning to spend all day there. When the sun shines down, it’s an ideal place to spend a weekend afternoon. Hornstulls Marknad, re-opens Apr 7 Market Art Fair is one of the primary sales points of Stockholm Art Week, where some of the finest works available on the scene are chosen by a committee of big names from the Nordic art world and put on display – and sale – at Liljevalchs. With an average price of 87,000 kronor, for the vast majority it’s admittedly more of a place to visit than to purchase, but it’s a great chance to see some of the region’s best art in the same space, with Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg, Torbjørn Rødland and Ólafur Elíasson among the names featured this year. Carl Sundevall, the festival’s director, says: “Market Art Fair has become a safe and stable facility for those who both want to have an authentic experience and follow the latest art trends, but don’t feel that they have time to visit a bunch of openings or read art magazines all the time”.
