travel and themed events Literary festivals, publishers, universities, and other literary innovators can apply for grants for the promotion of Swedish literature, whether unpublished or already translated. Facts In 2018 we supported 57 different projects in 27 countries with SEK 1.8 million. Over half the projects were author visits to launches or festivals. We also funded the literary magazine Swedish Book Review, several translation workshops/ seminars in France, Italy, Poland and Russia, and supported the Embassy of Sweden in Warsaw in the organisation of a Swedish programme and stand at the Krakow Book Fair, where Sweden was the Guest of Honour. You can: -Invite Swedish authors, illustrators and playwrights for book launches, book tours, panel talks or literary festivals. The grant can be used to cover travel, accommodation and appearance fees. -Arrange readings for unpublished books or plays. The grant can be used to cover the costs of a sample translation, the author’s travel (see above), and/or production material in conjunction with an event. -Promote books that merit extra support. The grant can be used to contribute to marketing costs. -Organise workshops or seminars for translators from Swedish into other languages. The grant can cover the fees of a workshop/ seminar leader and guest lecturers, as well as production costs. Events might last anything from one day to a whole year. -Produce publications on Swedish literature and drama.
