BITESIZE Words: Pelle Tamleht Outdoor terrace in
Årsta Rackarbacken Terass quietly opened up late this summer, and they have since already secured their permits for the following two summer seasons. Behind the restaurant, located next to Årstavikens Båtklubb, are Micke Hörlin and Alexandra Ziliaskoudis. A duo that has no previous experience in running a restaurant, but plenty as entrepreneurs. Rackarbacken doesn’t offer any indoor seating, but there’s an abundance of chairs on the wooden decking by the foot of Rackarbacken. In total the restaurant houses 70 people. Rackarbacken Terass opened at the end of August and will stay open until midway through October. Operakällaren under new stewardship After many years spent working at celebrated restaurants like F12, Franzén and Aira, Viktor Westerlind has now taken the reigns at Operakällarens Matsal. The restaurant is entering a new phase which will be evident both on the plates and in the dining room. “To me it’s important to preserve and honour Operakällaren’s history and DNA. At the same time however, I want to go about this with fresh thinking. There will be visual changes in the restaurant, but the changes will first and foremost be apparent on the menu and on your plate. There will be a stronger focus on Nordic produce, which is incredibly important to me,” says Westerlind. The menu is largely comprised of French cuisine, but with Swedish produce. Guests will also be able to enjoy, the grandfather of Swedish cooking and former Operakällaren owner, Tore Wretman’s classics in a new guise, like for example Crème Ninon & Terrine based on organic foie gras and with grapes from Vreta Kloster. A tasting menu is priced at 1,500 kronor, while the à la carte menu starts at 400 kronor. Luxurious dining spot Pontus Frithiof’s new restaurant is one you might see first from inside a Rolls Royce. Le Tour is the first fine dining restaurant that Frithiof and his sparring partner Mario E. Moroni have opened since 2007, when Pontus in the Greenhouse closed. The restaurant is situated on the 23rd floor in the Dagens Nyheter tower, and the lofty heights are matched by the ambitions. ”Le Tour is the sum of all of our experiences and love of world class cooking. I’m absolutely certain that the guests will be overwhelmed by the food, drink, service and environment. We have succeeded in creating an experience that you cannot find anywhere else”, says Frithiof. The food concept comes from European inspirations, with a focus on French cuisine. The head chef is Michael Spiridon who previously worked for the three starred restaurateur Michel Bras, and the wine list has been hand-picked by Moroni. For any guest that wants something special, they also offer the service The Unicorn. The experience is tailored for up to six people and comprises a tasting menu with more than a dozen dishes, plus wines to match. Included in the service is both pick-up and drop-off at your home – as long as it’s within Greater Stockholm region - with a Rolls-Royce or a Porsche. La Tour is situated at Rålambsvägen 17 and is open on Thursdays and Fridays between 11:30-14:00 and 17:00-23:00. 20 Photo: Anja Callius
