ater is one of the most southerly theatres in Sweden. The Skillinge Teater production of Chekhov’s The Seagull blends the theatre’s naturalistic, “Bergmanesque” staging with the multicultural, confident style of Collectif Masque from Paris, under the direction of Paris-based, Argentine-born Mariana Araoz. In 2010, Araoz directed Skillinge Teater’s production of Sophocles’ Antigone, which appeared in Paris in both Swedish and French, toured in France, and was performed 22 times at the Avignon drama festival in 2012.
