. The Return of Zaytoon Our hearts soared at news of the reopening of the revamped Zaytoon on Parliament Street, longtime stalwart of the city’s dining scene and one of our favourite Friday night eating spots. A nicely expanded menu bears all the hallmarks of the kitchen’s approach to freshly prepared, modern Persian cuisine, with tasty new additions including marinated chicken wings, oven baked to perfection. Vegan offerings include a generous portion of delicious stuffed aubergines, replete with rice, split peas, garlic and fresh herbs, slow roasted in tomato sauce. For afters, check out the refreshing Saffron Ice-cream made with saffron sourced directly from Iran’s Khorasan region. Shish! Zaytoon.ie First Draft Coffee and Wine First Draft Coffee and Wine have been settling in at 34 Lennox Street where, in addition to an inviting selection of signature freshly ground coffees, they’ve recently expanded into the world of wines. With an emphasis on ‘low intervention’ or what they like to call ‘Acoustic Wines’ glasses are available from Wed to Sun until 10pm. Ger tells us that anything from the shelf has a €10 corkage attached, except for Sundays when the charge is waived. Gorgeous small plates such as White Bean and Chorizo stew, Rabbit Terrine, Potted Duck, Farmhouse Cheeses, Raclette and Pickles are available through the week. Twitter: @1stDraftCoffee 3. Great Eatyard Bakeoff Street food purveyors Eatyard kick off a busy festival calendar this month with a carnival weekend devoted to a celebration of all things baked. The packed line-up includes Drip ‘n’ Donuts, a unique new collaboration between Proper Order Coffee and the Dublin Doughnut Company, handmade vegan fare from Oh Happy Treats and afternoon G and Tea under the stewardship of the Cupcake Bloke. Admission is free, but those who prepurchase tickets costing €10 can enjoy the prospect of specially cooked bakes courtesy of pastry maestro Aoife Noonan, with a choice of bubbles or a pint on arrival. Under Your Wing at The Woollen Mills Whether it’s restoring iconic Dublin landmarks or delivering on the promise of authentic gastro pub grub, enterprising restaurateur Elaine Murphy has taken the city’s hospitality interests under her wing. Her latest initiative sees her championing greater awareness around the mental health and wellbeing of those working in the sector. Building on the innovative staff support programmes at her own restaurant group, The Woollen Mills is donating €1 from every sale of their ‘Under Your Wing’ bowl of chicken wings to Pieta House as part of an effort to encourage further dialogue around this important issue. thewoollenmills.com 5. The Eddison at The Dylan They’ve been doing some spring cleaning at the Dylan, as evidenced by the unveiling of a swanky new restaurant in the form of The Eddison, complete with clean white walls, warm mahogany flooring and sumptuous jade green furniture. Chef Paul Quinn has also overseen the development of an exciting new menu, where breakfast alone calls for an early morning excursion across Baggot Street Bridge. We’re looking forward to savouring their fried duck egg with Applewood smoked duck bacon, accompanied by toasted brioche soldiers, truffle shavings and a white balsamic dressing. 6.30am-11pm dylan.ie Pssst – Got some food ’n’ drink nuggets you’d like to share with Totally Dublin readers?
