Totally Stockholm 1
Market Time Färgfabriken’s seasonal markets are a
long-time Stockholm tradition, and the latest edition is pencilled-in for the end of the summer. You can expect the usual – designers offering their crafts for sale, good food, some live music, brunch, drinks and more. The best way to spend the last couple of weeks of sunshine is always a tricky question to answer, but out on the art space’s terrace in Liljeholmen isn’t a bad idea. Färgfabrikens Marknad, Aug 24-25 NO CD, NO FUN Local newspapers can somehow take the mundane so far it becomes art. And so it eventually became with an article from 2001. Headlined ‘Det blev ingen CD’ (In the End, No CD) it was about five 15-year-olds who decided to buy CDs during their school break – but the store was shut. That’s it, that’s the article. Since then, the article has fascinated and amused many people, and now it’s becoming a documentary. After the idea came to the comedian Jonas Strandberg during an episode of the podcast Arkiv Samtal, he made the documentary himself. You can catch it at Zita Folkets Bio in late August. Det Blev Ingen CD, Zita Folkets Bio, Aug 24-25 ROADMAP Austin Maloney Carnival ambition Since being restored to its ancestral home of Nytorget in 2017, Nytorgsfesten has been a big hit with the SoFo locals, and that looks to continue this year. It’s sort of like a stationary neighbourhood carnival, with live music, art, a flea market, activities including yoga and much more. Guests at this year’s festival include the photo exhibition Planket STHLM and the market Stockholm Hippie Market. Nytorgsfesten, Nytorget, Aug 16-18 Radisson Takes The High Road As part of the makeover at the Radisson Blu Royal Viking on Vasagatan, they’ve opened up the renovated cocktail bar and social club High. Tucked in on the ninth floor and with space for 150 sippers, the bar aims to offer its guests two things – views of the city and the water through the panorama windows, and a wide range of cocktails based on classic and modern flavours. 6 Photo: Petra Gipp
