club Pure Shores Popstalgia shows no sign of abat
ing in certain quarters as evidenced by the phenomenal popularity of Sing Along Social at weddings and festivals throughout the land. Pure Shores allows you the self-indulgence of busting moves and holding imaginary mics to pop belters, electropop gems, disco crackers, upbeat rock bops and house bangers by every woman of every genre, from All Saints to SZA. Its hosts are the genial buzzers, Louise Bruton and Michael Pope (Le Galaxie). Wigwam, Saturday October 26, 11pm, Free event Open House It’s our annual ‘through the keyhole’ moment where we get to snoop and marvel at what lies behind the doors of this city. And while it’s stacked with access to fantastic public and private spaces, the most important event is The Big Debate on Friday. The theme is ‘City in Motion’ which according to Open House “allows us to question the sort of city we want Dublin to be.” And this has never come at a more crunch time with a city no longer affordable to live in for so many and creative spaces being squeezed out in favour of hotels and student accommodation. Do we want a soulless identikit city which tourists will eventually start skipping for authenticity elsewhere or hold on to the vestiges of what makes us unique? Could the future incarnation of this event be called Closed Doors? Now is the time to have your say and get informed. And look behind the keyhole.
