SUPPORT SCHEME FOR SWEDISH LITERATURE IN TRANSLAT
ION The support scheme applies to fiction, non-fiction, comics and graphic novels and drama for children and adults. Foreign publishers can apply for either translation costs or both translation- and production costs for foreign editions of Swedish books. However – production grants can only be granted for fully illustrated books, such as children’s books, non-fiction or comics and graphic novels. Productions grants cannot be applied separately. Translation grants can also be applied for translations of Swedish drama to be published in book form. Translations of Swedish literature and drama into other Nordic languages can be applied for separately. The conditions and criteria are the same as for the international publishers. The application must be accompanied with a license agreement, a translator agreement as well as a pdf of the original Swedish work. If the application is approved, the grant will be paid after the publication of the book, which must take place within one year from the approval. The book cannot be printed before the result is announced. The applications are evaluated by a grant committee, and the results will be announced by email approximately 7–8 weeks after deadline. www.swedishliterature.se/swedish_translation www.swedishliterature.se/nordic_translation
