TIS THE SEASON(ING) The unveiling of the annual c
alendar by our pals in the Irish Design Shop is more traditional than the turning on of the ‘Grafton Quarter’ lights at this stage. For 2020, they have enlisted the sisters Sally and Laura Caulwell to illustrate and devise 12 brunch recipes. So, this month you’ll be having Beet hummus with flatbreads and January shall be a diet of Cauliflower Fritters! The 12 recipes comes with a handcrafted wooden stand by Coolree Design to prop up your recipe card in the kitchen. irishdesignshop.com/products/seasoning-recipe, €45 GOOD GOODS While nothing will fill the gaping void left by the Flea Market not being able to secure the support of the city in finding a venue to host its annual Christmas market, there are some smaller-scale substitutes. The Christmas Bazaar in Hen’s Teeth new space will bring different traders and workshops over the three weekends leading up to Christmas. Among those popping up will be Irish handweaver Valerie Taylor, Make Ceramics, a head wrap workshop by Brazilian designer Thaís Muniz aka Turbante (pictured) and jewellery by Venezuelan designer Betzy Nina aka Sandia. Meanwhile, We Make Good have pitched up on Hen’s Teeth’s old stomping ground of Fade Street. This social enterprise forges partnerships between emerging designers and people facing social challenges who have been supported to develop valuable skills and gain employment in their craft. Boasting an eclectic and affordable range, here’s a chance to do good on the double.
