club 2ManyDJs and The 2 Bears Deck the halls guys
! This is the cracker you’ve been waiting for. As Heard on Radio Soulwax Pt. 2 was first released by the Dewaele brothers back in 2003 and they ain’t looked back touring, remixing and causing dancefloor damage which would even cause Prince Andrew to break out in a sweat. Newbies The 2 Bears date back to 2009 and comprise of Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and Raf Rundell. Their last release The Night is Young was back in 2014 so here’s hoping there are new works in the offing. One tip our friends at D8 could look into is getting the party started a little earlier too so people can make a proper night of it if they travel out, 9 to 3 has a nicer chime to it. District 8 @ Jam Park, Friday December 20, (11pm3am), €20-€30 Event Christmas at the National Library of Ireland Step away from the commercial hubbub outside and take time to breathe and reflect. Christmas should be about carols and calm as much as till-ringing and clamouring. The National Library steps in with some free offerings to aid reflection and hand-holding. On November 30, tales of Christmas traditions and stories from the Library’s collections, with particular reference to WB Yeats and Lady Gregory will be performed by Candelit Tales. On December 7, there’s a performance of Patrick Kavanagh’s A Christmas Childhood, including a selection of Christmas songs by the award-winning Caintairí Avondale Choir, who have a special focus on a-cappella, oratorio and early music. The following Saturday the Rosemount Singers, who will serenade us with a selection of festive Christmas carols. National Library of Ireland (Kildare Street), Saturday November 30, December 7 & 14, 2pm Markets The gaping hole left by the absence of a Flea Market this Christmas should, one would hope, give councillors and citizens pause for thought about what city we want and are allowing to be created/ destroyed. There are a number of others trying to plug this huge chasm and we encourage you to support them and their traders.
