Networks in Sweden There are a number of actors a
nd organisations in Sweden that promote freedom of expression and culture that pertain to artists in residence and the ICORN programme. The Writers’ Centre in Sweden The Writers’ Centre offers free membership for artists in residence who work as writers. The writer completes a membership application and sends it to the regional representative. The Writers’ Centre in Sweden is a non-profit association for professional writers and aims to help writers and readers to meet and disseminate literature in society. They mediate and schedule authors for appearances at libraries, conferences, literary festivals and schools. They also run various forms of reading and writing projects for children and adults, and arrange literary events, author days and a variety of meetings and discussions about literature. The Centre is run across four regions with the support of the Swedish Arts Council and several regional and municipal donors, such as Region Skåne, Region Västra Götaland and the City of Malmö. Website: www.forfattarcentrum.se Illustratörcentrum Illustratörcentrum offers artists in residence working in the field of illustration, graphic design and animation free membership during their refuge term. Membership in Illustratörcentrum includes having a portfolio on the organisation’s website that it used by clients to find creators. Their members are actively promoted in newsletters, through social media and in the annual Swedish Illustrators & Graphic Designers illustrators catalogue, which is sent out to 2,500 clients. They also organise activities in the Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö and Umeå area, where they provide networking opportunities with colleagues and clients.
