P 10 TRACKS Limerick born, Dublin based producer/DJ MELTX has a string of releases over the last few years, with many of her tracks accruing tens of thousands of plays on Soundcloud. She has played headline shows in Liverpool, Limerick, Dublin and Paris as well as some choice festival appearances at Outset and Boxed Off. MELTX has shared line-ups with the likes of SPFDJ, DYEN, Reinier Zonneveld, Nico Moreno and more and is gaining a big reputation as a remixer of note with her trademark style of edit based vocal tracks mixed in with nu-school and hard-groove Techno. 01 Aahan - Open The Trunk 02 Chlär - Night Genesis This is always my go-to track to play at festivals, especially when I feel it’ll suit the vibe. Its high energy reverberates throughout the crowd and landscape in a uniquely powerful way. This is one of those tracks that I find myself sticking on repeat while completing various tasks. Chlär’s music has an ability to hypnotise you with its beautiful, emotional qualities. 03 D.Dan - Falling In A Dream This one is my absolute favourite by a genius producer. I feel so lucky to have experienced him playing it live as the sun rose in the early hours of the morning during Melt Festival this summer. One of the most magical tunes that most definitely reflects its title. 04 Jeff Mills - The Bells I first heard it when they used it during an old Skins episode club scene. This timely, classic track made by the legendary Jeff Mills undoubtedly goes down in techno history and will never get old. 05 Stef Mendesidis - Interlynx I will never get over the groove of this tune. It is addictive! Always find myself coming back to this in my sets. 06 Ruffneck Prime - Sign of the 13th Pyramid I first fell in love with this when I heard SNTS play it during one of his Boiler room sets. The dark and ethereal atmosphere created by this track is captivating. The lead-up is raw and compelling and carries you into one of the best drops I’ve heard in techno. PAGE 36 07 VTSS - Atlantyda You can’t go wrong with playing this iconic track. The melody is moving and the rhythms are incredibly catchy. It has a very “dénoument” feel to it and is ideal for playing at the end of a set. 08 HA|XO - Alone in the club This one will always have a special place in my heart. It evokes a lot of nostalgia for me, returning me to the early moments when I first fell in love with techno. Even its title profoundly resonates with me as I vividly remember going out to techno clubs in Berlin and Paris on my own a few years ago, just before the pandemic hit. Afterwards, every time I listened to it during train journeys around those cities I felt like the song was made for me, its bittersweetness is profound. 09 Davido - IF This track always takes me back to my first-ever official techno night experience in Dublin. My mates and I went to see Introversion and Parallax playing in Index in October 2019 and I remember us playing it repeatedly in the week leading up to the event. It’s one of those underground tunes that makes you realise that techno music isn’t all about aggressive and emotionless production, creating a space for poignancy and gentleness. 10 Hadone - Voiceless If you ever asked me to describe my sound as an artist I would definitely send you this song. From the haunting vocals, the distorted kick or the echoey sonic atmosphere, every single element forms that type of idyllic dark atmosphere I’d want to create in a techno track. MELTX headlines the Speed crew takeover of Room 2 of Index on November 19th while Subject presents Blawan in the main room. 39-40 Arran Quay, Smithfield.
