CARLSBAD - THE SOUNDHOUSE - NOV 19TH Carlsbad is a US singer/songwriter based in Dublin who’s ‘Still Life’ single from her October EP Future Yeehaw blends post modern electronic, pop, folk and country. New single ‘Lemon Pie’ is more atmospheric, evoking favourable comparisons with Angel Olsen and Mattiel. A class act. KORMAC - THE BUTTON FACTORY - NOV 19TH Featured on the cover of our last issue, Kormac launches his brilliant new album ‘Equivalent Exchange’ tonight with an exceptional line of guests, including Jafaris, May Kay, Loah and the Irish Chamber Orchestra. Kormac’s music is both cerebral and made for the dancefloor.Unmissable. LEILA JANE - WHELANS UPSTAIRS - NOV 20TH One of our brightest talents, Leila Jane has honed her blues, country and folk roots into a contemporary sound that remains true to her influences. Her voice is a wonderful instrument and truly unique amongst her peers. Her new single ‘Dance With Me’ is set to be released on November 11th and is the first track from her upcoming EP, Revolve Evolve. Recommended. BICURIOUS & POLYMATH - THE GRAND SOCIAL - NOV 22ND Great double bill of experimental music featuring Dublin based Irish/French duo Bicurious and Brighton based instrumental Prog/Math band Poly-Math - whose record releases are concept pieces revolving around revolutionary artworks or historical events. Bring ear protectors for this one! PAGE 4 AOIFE NESSA FRANCIS NOV 24TH AOIFE NESSA FRANCIS - WHELANS - NOV 24TH Highly anticipated headline gig from one of our very best. Aoife has struck gold again on her latest album ‘Protector’, a beguiling platter of beautifully restrained pastoral psych/dreampop. Her voice and music has a special quality that transports the listener to a different place, usually one that’s far more attractive than where they currently are, and is a joy to listen to. Highly recommended. ANNA MEIKE - WHELANS - NOV 25TH Another amazing Irish artist who transports the listener elsewhere is Wicklow native Anna Meike and tonight she launches her brilliant new album Theatre. Drawing on influences from her worldwide travels Meike creates stunning soundscapes that utilises her multi-instrumental talents (she plays guitar, bouzouki, piano and cello) and works them into songs of delicate beauty that also showcase Meikes superb voice. On the strength of the single releases so far Theatre is shaping up to be one of our contenders for album of the year so this gig is a must see. COLUMBIA MILLS - THE ACADEMY - NOV 25TH Our cover stars play their biggest show to date and, on the back of some acclaimed sold out UK shows recently, it’s set to be a banger. The band have incorporated samples and electronic motifs successfully into their Indie sound and are looking forward to playing the tunes to their hometown crowd. If you dig New Order, The Cure or The National this gig is for you. WORKING MENS CLUB - THE ACADEMY GREEN ROOM - NOV 25TH Channelling synthrock, Krautpop, Afrobeat, jolting dancefloor energy and the sonics of Cabaret Voltaire into songs that capture the anxiety and angst of growing up in the North of England (Yorkshire to be precise) has made young Syd Minsky-Sargeant one of the leading voices of his generation. Here to promote their superb second album Fear Fear, this is an ideal chance to see a band that will be selling out much bigger venues very shortly. WORKING MENS CLUB NOV 25TH
