lund Vetekatten opens on Södermalm The classic shoe store Skobell traded on Götgatan for almost 70 years before throwing in the towel. Now the even more classic pastry shop-slash-patisserie-slash-café Vetekatten is moving in. The intention is to open up what they call a ’grand café’. ”We are going to serve lighter dishes and some beers and wines. We don’t have a bakery here, but do have a cold buffet and will make sandwiches and salads, plus pastry and baked goods from our bakery on Kungsgatan,” part-owner Johan Sandelin-Jernåsen says. That’s all good news, but you will have to wait until early 2023 for them to open. A trio of giraffes Pontus Frithiof’s and Thomas Dahlstedt’s neighbourhood restaurant La Giraffe on Kungsholmen has reopened after renovations. And during the next year the French concept will expand with two little sister restaurants - one at Arlanda Airport Terminal 5 and the second in a new city. ”We are happy to be opening our neighbourhood restaurant yet again. It has become even cosier and now have a completely updated menu. This in combination with a new experienced team, who will take real good care of our guests. All of us share the ambition to make La Giraffe more accessible, and for it to be the natural choice for anyone who wishes to experience that little special something, quick and great service and all for a decent price,” says Pontus Frithiof, owner and founder of Pontus Group. The new menu has, apart from the kitchen’s French classics and signature dishes like Vietnamese nems now been spiced up with a lot of smaller dishes like charcuteries, burrata caprices and steak tartare ’Two Bites’. La Girafe, Fleminggatan 39 Brisket & Friends to Södermalm It all began in an old car wash in Årsta, moved on to Upplandsgatan, and then added an incarnation in Gothenburg. Now it’s time for Södermalm to get their very own edition of the Brisket & Friends smokehouse. In early November they opened at Östgötagatan 25, and on the menu you’ll find freshly-smoked briskets, creamed corn and, of course, beers. Brisket & Friends Södermalm is open Tuesdays through Sundays. 20
