WORDS Shamim De Brún Beechwood’s Newest Wine Bar,
Excuse My French, Is Already a Hit Excuse My French opened in Beechwood in early October, and it’s already becoming a go-to spot for wine lovers in Dublin. Specialising in a unique selection of French wines and French-Irish fusion finger food, this wine bar is all about top-quality produce and a laid-back vibe that screams ‘continental’, but in a cool Parisian way. Run by two wine aficionados, the bar focuses on the perfect marriage between French and Irish ingredients, giving your average wine night a serious upgrade. They’re open from 12pm for lunch and from 4.30pm for dinner every day. The Church Café Bar Launches Irish Coffee Experience Mary Street’s The Church Café Bar is rolling out a brand-new guided history tour, giving you a legit reason to spend your afternoon knocking back Irish coffees while learning about Dublin’s wild past. Set in a 300-year-old church where Arthur Guinness himself tied the knot, this tour takes you through centuries of Irish history, peeling back layers of architecture, local legends, and epic pints. At the end, guests can expect The Church’s take on ‘the perfect Irish coffee’. The tour which costs €15 and is 45-minutes long is up and running now. The bar, co-owned by rugby stars Jamie Heaslip, Rob Kearney, and Seán O’Brien, has teamed up with Two Stacks Whiskey to create a 10-year-old blend that’s only available at The Bridge itself. It’s literally the ‘toast of Ballsbridge’. Distilled back in 2014 at Cooley Distillery, this whiskey was aged in ex-bourbon casks before getting a final flourish in Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at a punchy 48.5%, it’s priced at €125 for a 700ml bottle, or if you’re just looking for a cheeky taste, €25 will get you a 100ml can. There are only 300 bottles of this collector’s item; if you’re a D4-eigner, now is the time to grab a taste of your own back garden. What you will find when you visit ...
