DASHI… after catching the transfixing beauty that is An Cailín Ciúin (see Cinema pg 50), we dropped in on the weekly jazz night in the new cocktail bar in the basement under Soup 2 in Stoneybatter. Pet Sounds combines Denis Scully (saxophone) Darragh Hennessy (piano/organ), Michael McCarthy (drums) and Charlie Moon (guitar) who will release his new album Patchwork on NYC jazz label Dot Time Records on May 27. Very smooth. @dashidublin @charlie_moon_music UNDER SUMMER PASTURES This series of “explorations and essays from Ireland’s temperate rainforests” invites readers to explore the unique landscape in the company of woodland conservationist Ray Ó Foghlú. We pass by old sessile oaks, woodlands of birch, karst gorges and Turkey Tail fungus. Woven through Ray’s woodland visits are contributions from some of Ireland’s leading environmental thinkers, offering a blend of practical, magical, and personal responses to the rainforest. Charity publisher Hometree began as a tree-planting initiative aiming to connect people with nature through a series of projects addressing both Ireland’s declining biodiversity and the unfolding climate challenge. hometree.ie/support/hometree-publication-undersummer-pastures, €12 WHAT’S YOUR PLEASURE?
