Michael McDermott LOST IN A FOREST Forest bathing
emerged in Japan in the 1980s as a physiological and psychological exercise called shinrin-yoku (“taking in the forest atmosphere”). The purpose was twofold: to offer an eco-antidote to burnout and to inspire residents to reconnect with and protect the country’s forests. Now Aurora Procopio is bringing us to the forest with a recent series of experiences in the Furry Glen in the Phoenix Park. She leads a walk followed by a slow, gentle mindful movement practice. She will offer a number of ‘invitations’ which will help you to deeply connect with Nature. Just don’t confuse them with some of the traditional Furry Glen invitations. mycommunityspace.net/forest-bathing PROPHESYING Kendrick Lamar’s Pyramid Stage set at Glastonbury saw him sporting a bejewelled crown of thorns and raise the rapping game to new heights with faith and fury boiling at the surface as he finished his set repeating the lines “They judge you, they judged Christ, godspeed for women’s rights” over and over again. Now if you wish to explore the poetry of the Pulitzer prize-winner, there’s a five week course for you. 90-minute modules include Week 1: Kendrick and The Head, Kendrick and The Hands, Kendrick and The Heart, Kendrick and The Lungs (with special guest, Dr Dawn-Elissa Fischer), Kendrick and The Feet (with special guest, DJ Stevie G). “This course has been conceived as a body scan: each week we will pay attention to a part of the body in relation to Lamar’s work and some of the characteristics that underpin hiphop such as rhyme, sampling and sociopolitical critique.” starts October 5, €200 thewellreview.com HAVE YOU GOT THE GOO?
