UPCOMING EVENTS UDDEN SKULPTURPARK This year mark
s the fifteen-year anniversary of Uddenskulptur – the unique sculpture exhibition held at the old quarry near Norra Kajen in Hunnebostrand. Since its launch in 2011, the site has developed into a cultural meeting point, recognized far beyond Sweden’s borders. Uddenskulptur is more than just an exhibition – it is an experience where history, geology, and artistic vision come together. Visitors are invited to explore a landscape where the past and present merge, and where the durability of granite bears witness to both nature’s power and human creativity. Since 2011, the former quarry in Hunnebostrand has been used as an exhibition venue. It is rare to have access to such a spectacular environment for artistic activities – a richness that has attracted attention both nationally and internationally. MIDSUMMER CELEBRATION Traditional Midsummer celebration with dancing around the Midsummer pole is organized at many locations throughout Sotenäs on Midsummer’s Eve. At Nordens Ark, the pole is decorated together from 1 PM, and then the dancing begins. In Bovallstrand, at the local heritage center at 4 PM. Hovenäset celebrates at Resobadet, at 4 PM. Smögen, in Badhusparken, at 3 PM. Tångenparken is a classic location for the celebration, at 3 PM. Bohus-Malmön, in the Community Park, at 3 PM. Väjern, near the park, at 2 PM. Hunnebostrand on Midsummer Day, Gammelgården, at 2 PM. KALLES KAVIAR CUP VÄSTERHAVSVECKAN START-UP: AUGUST 2ND 11-16 There will be a full program with lots of exciting activities for all ages, both onboard, on land, and in the water. In addition to music and speeches, there is the opportunity to board the top-sailing schooner Kvartsita and and the museum fishing boat Asta. Discover marine animals at the Sea Animal Workshop. Get inspired by researchers, artists, and passionate individuals—all sharing a love for Västerhavet (the Western Sea). An exciting program that runs throughout the day. HÅLLÖ DAYS July 7th - 8th and August 21rd -22nd. Join us for a visit to the beautiful and celebrated Hållö, and explore the island with a guide. You will learn more about the island, life there, and the nature. Hear about exciting events, Hållö’s interesting natural environment, the daily life of the lighthouse families, Evert Taube’s visits, and of course, the brig Blue Bird of Hull and Sotenäs. Walk around the island, enjoy a seafood dinner, relax in the sauna. Stay overnight at the lovely Utpost Hållö. Experience the island in all the light of the day—including sunset and starry skies. There will also be several opportunities for swimming. Truly days dedicated to feeling good! 62 Visit Smögen & Over four days June 26th-29th, Sotenäset will be filled with football-loving youth from all over Sweden. The tournament is one of the largest in western Sweden. Boys and girls aged 11–14 will compete as parents, friends, and supporters cheer them on. Expect full activity on every green field and football pitch across Sotenäset. Around 1,500 players will participate in the coast’s best football tournament. Experience wonderful camaraderie, salty swimming, crab fishing, and, of course, exciting football matches. The Kalles Kaviar Cup is organized jointly by the four football clubs Bovallstrands IF, Hunnebostrands GoIF, Kungshamns IF and Smögens IF. The matches are played in the communities in the area. NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATION JUNE 6TH, 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM The National Day celebrations at Gerlesgården in Kungshamn are always a lovely event with choir music, dance, speeches, and performances. This year will be especially festive, as the Kungshamn artist Josefine Åberg will frame the program with her own songs. Her single “Cheating Heart” is currently played frequently on Spotify. ICEBUG XPERIENCE 5-7 SEPT The West Coast Trail takes place from September 5th to 7th at the picturesque Ramsvik in Bohuslän, with the first start at Ramsvik Stugby & Camping. WCT is a stage trail run, where participants Experience a total of 75 km through massive cliffs, narrow forest trails, coastal villages, and beautiful beaches. The distance is spread over three days of running across three different yet equally stunning courses. We reserve the right to make any changes.
