CIENCE UPCOMING EVENTS LIFE SCIENCE EVENTS, MEETINGS AND CONFERENCES T E X T by M AL IN O T M ANI 26 SEPTEMBER 2019: PARK ANNUAL SAHLGRENSKASCIENCEPARK.SE/ PARK-ANNUAL 11-13 NOVEMBER 2019: BIO-EUROPE This event celebrates 25 years this year, and Hamburg Messe will offer three days of biotech, pharma and finance. HE SPOTLIGHT WILL be turned on women’s health, workable AMR financial models, CNS, digital health and clinical trials, gene therapy valuation and deal trends and funding trends and how to break them. Last year the event attracted 4 354 attendees, 26 092 oneto-one meetings took place, and 5 203 licensing opportunities were posted. In addition, 2 325 companies participated, there were 139 company presentations, 131 exhibitors, and 60 countries were represented. A pre-event course in advanced business development has also been organized. It is an intensive three-day workshop for professionals who want to learn, develop and practice their business development skills, working in teams with the guidance of an expert faculty. This 14th year of the event will, as always, showcase seminars, one-to-one meetings, exhibitions and lots of networking opportunities. THE EVENT, WHICH gathers more than 500 representatives from industry, academia and the healthcare sector sets out to create inspiring ideas and interesting business opportunities. For example, the day will include presentations from both startup-companies and more recognized life science organizations. The theme The Future of Health embraces cross-collaboration and humane technology and reflects the ongoing paradigm shifts within healthcare and life science, attracting pioneering entrepreneurs and venture capital willing to back them. Speakers include Almira Thunström, organizational developer and researcher at Psychiatry of Affective Disorders at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Andres Strasser, Investment Director EMEA at Volvo Car Corporation, and Johan Hyllner, Senior Director and Head of Cell and Gene therapy at CVRM at AstraZeneca. The day will also include the announcement of the winner of the Arvid Carlsson Award by Sahlgrenska Science Park. The award goes to an entrepreneur who drives development forward for human health and wellbeing and previous winners include Erik Gatenholm (highlighted in this issue) and Hector Martinez and their company Cellink, and Susanne Staaf and Kristina Lagerstedt and their company 1928 Diagnostics.
