E D.E.W. X O’NEILL’S This month sees literary museum MoLI pay homage to its namesake Molly Bloom, one of the main characters in the novel Ulysses, with a number of events in honour of Bloomsday. In addition to special Joycean-themed guided tours in the building where the author once studied, the museum’s historic garden is the setting for a buzzy Bloomsday Garden Party featuring live music and summer cocktails on the evening of the big day. This year’s event includes performances from songwriter Cara Coyle and her band, followed by music from three-piece Dunny, and traditional Brazilian choro ensemble Regional Massapê, who will be joined on the evening by Italian jazz singer Luisa Annibali. Guests can also look forward to sampling a special Bloomsday cocktail concocted in honour of the occasion by Teeling Whiskey Distillery. Tickets cost €20, with complimentary admission for MoLI members. moli.ie Two quintessential Irish brands have joined forces to create a very wearable slice of Midlands pride this summer. Togging out on one side is Tullamore D.E.W., a distillery and working cooperage that continues a fine whiskeymaking tradition stretching back more than two centuries. On the other is O’Neills, the sportswear legends responsible for countless GAA jerseys, and the iconic ‘short shorts’ that stopped traffic when Paul Mescal stepped out in them in London a couple of summers back. Together, they’ve produced a new limited edition jersey that showcases heritage, pride of place and hometown identity, while also highlighting the parallels between whiskey-making and jersey-making.
