Heat and Flame Protective Wear / Combine high-vis
tabell Need Class 3? Combine the right garments for a higher level of visibility. High-visibility clothing is grouped into three different classes, with Class 1 being the lowest on the scale and Class 3 the highest. The classes are based on the levels of visibility provided by the garment’s fluorescent and reflective materials. And for each class, the EN ISO 20471:2013 norm dictates the area and placement of these materials, which translates into Class 3 garments having a large area and prominent placement of both fluorescent and reflective materials. This also means that the garment’s size is a decisive factor in the classification, since it directly affects the total area of the materials. If you wear a small size it can therefore be difficult for you to reach the required level of visibility. But don’t despair, as you can increase the visibility and attain the desired class by combining several garments. Please consult the table on the next page to find out which garments and sizes you can combine to reach the required visibility class. Regardless of the area of materials used, a class 3 garment shall cover the torso and shall have as a minimum either sleeves with retroreflective bands or full length trouser legs with retroreflective bands, if not both. 83
