SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2019 PERSONNEL A DIGITAL DE
VELOPMENT In the 2018 sustainability report the many digital projects that Hedin is investing in at the moment were presented. One of Hedin Bils great digital investments during 2018 was Profitbase, a business Intelligence tool for operational management, that were launched in the entire group. The tool collects our KPI and financial reports digitally and efficiently on one single place and is fully integrated to our business system. The Implementation of Profitbase has simplified handling and follow ups of economical key figures and is contributing to a stronger focus on some of the key figures that sheds light on our focus areas in a more efficient way. The Economy-function has been given a simpler method for accounting and has made the transition from manual reports to an automated report distribution. This has decreased the manual and administrative work, but the main contribution is that hundreds of coworkers is now able to minimize the use of paper, which ads on to our sustainability efforts. Other digital systems were implemented into the group for a more data driven way to identify behaviors and personnel related questions within the organization. An example of this is Tele2 Wallboards, Canea errand handling and AGDA analysis. These systems helps us measure personnel related data on a detailed level in real time, such as behaviors concerning answering times for telephone calls, incidents and accidents, gender- and salary distribution, working hours and fluctuations in absence, internal repositioning of personnel or staff turnover. FROM INSIGHT TO PRACTICAL ACTIONS The next stage of development concerns moving past the collection of data and approach the interpretation, analysis and understanding of the result. As we can now combine the financial- and behavior related data and analyze this information in order to unlock new and valuable insights, we will gain access to background material for decision making that is based on subjective data rather than intuition or gut-feeling. To use this kind of behavior related data generally leads to better working conditions for the employees and to better results for the organization as a whole. It could even give management personnel the evidence-based information that they need to convince the board of the accuracy of their decisions. We know that the turnover is satisfyingly high within a specific area of business, but we do not know WHY. With these new systems we can mine more advanced data in order to analyze if there are specific segmentations that intertwines, e.g. if a high turnover is connected to a high staff presence, high availability towards customers and Q&A statistics from the customer exchange. At the same time this change puts tougher demands and competence on our management and coworkers. To be able to handle the daily work routines and at the same time stay up to date with the latest digital trends is a real challenge in the day to day work. The new technologies mean new ways to work and that management and coworkers will be given new tasks and rolls to fill. During this past year we’ve made several educational efforts where we mix online- and classroom lectures, online lectures over video link, which has been working splendidly. We will keep investing in this further on since it’s in line with how we can handle our ecological footprint in a sustainable manner. 30
