SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2019 HEDIN BIL ACADEMY – IN
TRODUCTION PROGRAM In the beginning of 2019, we started the Hedin Bil introduction program for further occupational positions within our core operation. The introduction course for sales personnel has been going on for some years now, but as of now we are also launching programs for vehicle technicians, service salespersons, spare part personnel and damage technicians within bodywork. The programs run on a digital platform which in turn grant us the possibility to handle the challenge of our geographical width within the corporation. The purpose of the introductions is to help the new recruits to quickly get into their roll, contribute and be productive. The right educational content to the right person and occupational role is the key to creating security to our new coworkers at their workplace and with their new tasks. The introduction programs is based on three main principles where theory, practice and social elements are alternated. No part is missed, and important elements can be repeated. The coworker’s knowledge can be controlled, and therefore nothing is left unchecked. The digital system aids us as a company to ensure the follow up and results of the introduction programs. In the daily life of our management they are struggling to find the time to create a well-planned and structured introduction for their coworkers, but with a structured process like this the coworker will get the right information at the right time. The system also helps our management in their challenge to find the time to coach and be present around the new coworker. During 2019 we offered a total of 321 persons to partake in the introduction programs and 72% reached a result of over 80%, which by our standard means that they passed. There is still the challenge with the 28% that fails to reach the minimum level of the introduction, where we can see that there is partly an underlying lack of dedication but also the support from the management to blame. We can also note that the time to ensure that the new coworker has the right tools to quickly adapt to being productive and contributing to the business profitability is not always enough. 35
