In recent years, AI has been the most widely discussed and hyped technology trend. n spite of substantial enthusiasm, visions and fear, the concept of AI remains somewhat unclear, and is comprised of multiple technologies and solutions, maturing at different rates; for example, NLP (Natural Language Processing), image recognition, robotics, chatbots, anomaly detection, recommendation systems and many others. AI is an overarching area focusing on simulating human intelligence in computers, as well as the human characteristics of learning, self-correcting and reasoning. Above all at Handelsbanken, we see opportunities to create value by combining the strengths of AI with unique human abilities. The human brain and AI are good at different types of activities. In our opinion, Augmented Intelligence could be considered a better term for AI than ‘Artificial Intelligence’. I AI is much better at identifying patterns and correlations in large amounts of unstructured data in a short time, making advanced calculations and become expert in strictly delimited areas with distinct rules. In certain areas, such as image analysis and simple games, AI algorithms have already proven themselves superior to humans. The human brain, on the other hand, is much better as regards creativity, complex situations, social interaction, intuition, quickly moving between complicated situations, managing unforeseen events, co-operating with other people, and following social rules with ambiguous signals and unspoken conventions. “The savings and investment business is a very important building block in generating commissions at the branches and in building growth in satisfied customers. Having efficient, simple tools to work with is absolutely critical. It was not so long ago that I, as branch manager, was required to review all advisory sessions.
