ROADMAP BUTTON FACTORY TURNS 30 PHOTO MUSEUM IREL
AND ACHIEVES FULL ACCREDITATION One of our favourite artistic refuges has officially become the first photography institution in Ireland dedicated to contemporary art to achieve full museum accreditation. From management, care of collections, documentation and access, to education, exhibitions and public engagement, the museum checked all the boxes in the Museum Standards Programme of Ireland (MSPI). With official accreditation, the museum can continue to expand its collection of over 400 photographs, supporting over 60 contemporary photographers. They have been diving into the archive - taking stock of all the wonderful people who have played their part and the thousands of incredible artists who have rolled through and celebrate this with ……. Our highlights include the first Irish appearance of The Strokes, all 35 minutes of it, along with great sets from Grandaddy, Shellac, Chic, St Vincent, MF Doom and Aphex Twin amongst countless others. Happy Birthday folks! www.buttonfactory.ie PIVOT POINTS The Irish Architectural Archive (IAA) celebrates its 50th anniversary by opening a new free exhibit showcasing the ‘pivot points’ in the history of Ireland’s built environment. The exhibit is currently running at 45 Merrion Square, showcasing a collection of drawings, models, and building plans from the 1960s through the 2000s, helping to put into perspective how the current Ireland took its shape through post war urbanisation. The exhibition at Merrion Square runs through the end of the year, but a travelling version of it will visit venues across Ireland starting Autumn 2026 to Spring 2028. MASON HAYES & CURRAN RESIDENTIAL BURSARY 6 TRACKS Renowned D8 venue Hen’s Teeth has announced they will be hosting the return of 6 Tracks, a series of conversations, music and performance in which hosts sit with a musician each night to talk through six tracks - the songs that have shaped their sound, their life, the way they hear the world and how it impacted their craft, followed by a live performance into the evening. The first of these will be Sorcha Richardson on the 30th of July, but the series will continue until the 20th of November. Tickets cost €15. eventbrite.ie 6 The award-winning law firm Mason Hayes & Curran has announced its first recipient of the new annual Mason Hayes & Curran Bursary at Fire Station Artists’ Studios, facilitated by Business to Arts. Argentinian visual artist Silvina Sisterna will take up the bursary. Her artwork explores the collective and individual experiences of migrant women from Latin America in Ireland through photography, moving images and text. Silvina’s 12-month bursary commences from mid-July this year. www.mhc.ie
