Even if we stay married, a tightly knit family unit surrounded by those we love, we are still, in our souls, alone. Fanny and Martin have lived with each other for seventeen years. They have two kids. Fanny is intense, very organised and works as an accountant even though her dream was to become an actor. Martin is a valuer for both an auction house and the Swedish Enforcement Agency, and is highly knowledgeable. He’s a more gentle person who doesn’t like constant change. Now the whole family has rented a villa in Turkey for their holiday, and by chance they meet another family, friends from Sweden. Claes de Faire’s novel is an intimate chamber play. Conflicts and painful memories of unfulfilled wishes and injustices rise to the surface. The holiday becomes a voyage into darkness for all of them, described with a detached restraint that makes it even more intense. Photo: Caroline Andersson
