WORDS Martina Murray BAVARIAN BUZZ CONNECTION AT
GROGAN’S Prost is the word on everyone’s lips this month as Oktoberfest returns in a variety of guises for Teutonic celebrations across the city and beyond. In Goatstown, steins of craft brews and special cocktails are set to lend a touch of Bavarian flair to proceedings at Fired Up Pizza, while north of the Liffey at The Bernard Shaw a month-long series of activities will be in full flow right through until November 2nd. With Stein Holding, Lederhosen Limbo, and loads of live bands on the menu, both venues will also be dishing up lashings of much needed soakage in the form of traditional pretzels, currywurst and schnitzels. Check their socials for details. @thebernardshaw @fireduppizza In a break with tradition, regulars of The Castle Lounge were recently spotted swapping pints for wine at the official opening of the newly renovated space above the famous bar. The first exhibition at The Gallery at Grogan’s launched on Culture Night last month, when fifty lucky souls were treated to a first look at works by artists Karen Lee, Nicky Harrington and others. Curated by Orla Mellon, the show, aptly titled ‘Connection’, runs until October 20th, and can be visited by appointment or by buzzing at the side door. Digest it all over a pint and a toastie downstairs afterwards. @groganscastlelounge
