‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’ at Bolands Mills – Andrea Wa
lsh and Anja Geraghty - owners Bolands Mills is not just Dublin’s newest cultural destination, it’s where bold ideas and local talent thrive. They’re excited to welcome Don’t Kill My Vibe, a salon that’s all about energy, creativity, and community. First things first — that name is iconic. How did Don’t Kill My Vibe come about? Honestly, it happened really naturally. While we were brainstorming names, we kept saying ‘don’t kill my vibe’ to each other, and it just stuck. It felt like the perfect fit because it’s playful, memorable, and really reflects the energy we want people to feel when they walk into the salon. Hair salons are often more than just about hair — they’re community spaces. What kind of culture have you built here? For us, it’s always been about more than just great hair. We’ve built a space that empowers women and celebrates womanhood in all its forms. It’s a place where you can come to decompress, feel safe, and be surrounded by an energy that feels both familiar and uplifting. Even though we’re right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city, the salon has this sense of calm and serenity, like a little sanctuary where you can truly be yourself and leave feeling fabulous. Dublin has no shortage of salons. What makes your approach to styling stand out? What sets us apart is our inclusive approach. We welcome and celebrate all hair types, textures, and styles. Every client who walks through the door gets a truly personalized experience, because we believe hair should reflect individuality rather than fit into one box. On top of that, we combine luxury service with a laid-back, approachable vibe. It’s not just about leaving with great hair, it’s about feeling seen, heard, and completely confident in your own skin Fashion, music, art — what influences seep into your creative process in the salon? We’ve all got our own individual styles, and honestly, we’re each other’s biggest inspiration. We’re always bouncing ideas around and trusting each other’s creative process, and that’s what keeps things fresh. Fashion, music, and art definitely play a role, but it’s really the way we push and inspire one another that makes the biggest difference Sustainability and conscious beauty are big talking points — is that part of your philosophy at DKMV? Yes, 100%. Sustainability is really important to us, and we’re proud to be partnered with the Green Salon Collective. They’re an amazing company that helps salons recycle and repurpose things that would normally just end up as waste! Everything from hair to foil and even color tubes. It means that while clients are getting their treatments done, they can also feel good knowing we’re doing our part to take care of the planet What’s the soundtrack to a day in the salon — and how much does music shape the vibe? Our music taste is pretty mixed. We like to keep the vibe chilled and relaxing, but always with some feel-good tracks in there too. We’re partial to a bit of Fleetwood Mac and some ‘70s disco, but you’ll also hear plenty of current artists on our playlist. It’s a real mix that keeps the energy just right - laid-back, but still fun and uplifting. Looking ahead, where do you want to take the brand? Going forward, we just want Don’t Kill My Vibe to be all about feeling good. When people talk about our salon, we want them to instantly know it means great hair, a great experience, and leaving in a better mood than when they came in. That’s always the goal And with more trailblazing businesses joining the mix, Don’t Kill My Vibe is just the start of what’s shaping up to be Dublin’s most dynamic new neighbourhood. The opening of Don’t Kill My Vibe and Grindstone Speciality Coffee marks the start of an exciting new chapter in the restoration of this iconic Dublin landmark, made possible by Google. Keep an eye out for more businesses joining the mix in the coming months. Bolands Mills, Dublin 4 Instagram: @DontKillMyVibeHair www.bolandsmills.com
