Expect Hayley Kavanagh on tenor Sax, Sean O’Grady on alto sax, Eric Doyle on guitar, Fionn Ruadh on bass and Anxo Silveira on drums. BaianaSystem are at The Button Factory on Tuesday, September 9th with the ‘Lundu Rock Show’, presented for the first time outside of Brazil. Saturday, Sep 13th sees the Lee Meehan Organ Trio take to Arthur’s with top jazzers Shane O’Donovan on drums, Scott Flanigan on organ and of course Lee Meehan on guitar / vox. If you fancy a jaunt out to Hollywood in Wicklow for Culture Night this Friday, September 19th, Music Under The Mountains are putting on an evening of music and poetry with violinist and composer Cora Venus Lunny and poet Jane Clarke. Doors are 7:45pm and tickets are available from eventbrite. If you fancy something a bit closer to home you won’t go too far wrong by heading up to Arthur’s to catch the Scully / Lally / Howard / Lynch Quartet. That Google translates to Denis Scully on sax, Diarmuid Lally on bass, Luke Howard on piano and Dylan Lynch on drums. So-Young Yoon returns to Arthur’s this September 21st with her classic jazz album series, this time performing Time Out by the Dave Brubeck Quartet featuring Matthew Berrill on alto sax, Derek Whyte on bass, Brendan Doherty on drums and of course So-Young Yoon on piano. This is a Sunday afternoon gig folks, with doors at 4pm and tickets on eventbrite. Wednesday Sep 24th sees the Skyrocket Promotions lads at Fibbers presenting a night of smooth jazz with the Shaun Garry Quartet, Eolanda and Emma O’Malley. Doors are 8pm and tickets are available from eventbrite for a mere €9 + fees. The following evening on Thursday, Sep 25th, celebrated Irish bassist and composer Dave Redmond launches his new album All in Motion at The Cooler featuring Stéphane Mercier on sax, George Colligan on piano, Darren Beckett on drums and of course Dave Redmond on bass. Doors 7:30pm, tickets via improvisedmisic.ie Longstanding UK soul band Stone Foundation return to Dublin to play Workmans on Friday, Sep 26th as part of their extensive EU tour. Doors 7pm, tickets on eventbrite. Chris Guilfoyle and Matthew Jacobson aka MACH2 will play “heavy, math-rock inspired grooves” at the Dublin Jazz Co-op on Sunday, Sep 28th. This is a nice wee afternoon gig taking place at everyone’s favourite, The Cobblestone. Doors open at 3pm, music runs til’ around 6 and tickets are available from eventbrite.
