MAKE THE WORLD GO AWAY We’re big fans and friends
of photographer Sarah Doyle whose work has adorned our pages before. Her instagram account, in itself, should be shown as an example to all budding student photographers as to how best curate and develop an aesthetic. There’s bold colours, subtle tonal shifts, shadow plays and a set design consideration which elevates her work into a dreamy, seductive, space. “I’m always engaged in a kind of exchange with the objects, they feel like characters to me. These colours, lines, light and shadow are all expressions of this world where things can be worked out and the possibilities are endless, it’s about creating your own world,” says Sarah. Make the world go away is at Atelier Now until July 10 with a signed, limited edition, print entitled Pink Stairs available for €150. Wed - Sat, 10am - 4pm. Based upon the theme of comfort, the crocheted granny squares will go on public display later in the summer with artworks being auctioned in aid of Pieta House afterwards. “We have been completely blown away and are so proud of the extraordinary response of our creative community who have submitted in every imaginable medium and technique, from traditional to modern, from limestone to textile to drawings on tissue paper and everything in between,” say the sisters. “Almost every artwork is accompanied by a heartfelt written response about something that brought comfort to its maker during lockdown providing insight to our ordinary and extraordinary pandemic lives: the importance of family, friends and community, the joy of 5k giving a renewed appreciation of the beauty of nature, gardens, pets and sea swims. Some also shared their difficult stories of loss and grief during lockdown, being apart from family, loneliness and mental health issues.” @pluid.project2021 PLANT STAND… Plants have truly taken centre stage in our lives, rooms and gardens in the last year.
