X-Collection Eng 1
Where does your interest in colour and interior d
esign come from? Instead of going to daycare, I stayed with my grandmother and grandfather. My grandfather was an artist and model maker, so I sat and drew, crafted, and carpentered with him daily in his studio. My mother has her own ceramics workshop, and my father is involved in silversmithing, so I’ve always been surrounded by creativity. Since I was little, I’ve loved furnishing and creating cosy environments, so becoming an interior architect seemed quite natural. Why do you think we’ve historically been afraid of colour in the bathroom? I meet many clients who want colour in their bathrooms but are hesitant because it’s such a significant project. For example, you may need to replace tiles and flooring, and people worry about growing tired of their choice of tone. I usually suggest bringing in colours through the interior design instead, keeping the walls and floors more neutral. That’s why I like Mora’s X Collection so much. I feel many find it easier to experiment with the colour of bathtubs and sinks. What are your considerations regarding bathroom colours, and does it differ from other rooms in the home? It’s important for the bathroom to match the style of the residence and the rest of the decor. It creates a nice overall look. Personal style and the feeling you want when entering the bathroom also influence the choices. People often are more careful with their choices in the bathroom as it is perceived as more challenging to change in the future than, say, painting a wall in another room. What were the thoughts behind your colour choices for the X Collection? The idea behind the colour selection was to have a shade for every taste. The freedom to choose from all NCS colours is fantastic – as an interior architect, it feels like being a child in a candy store just thinking about it. But it can also be challenging with so many colours to choose from. Therefore, I’ve selected a range where everyone can find a shade that suits them and their style. I hope the colours inspire people to try something new or even make the bathroom their new favourite room. How do the colours in your dream bathroom look? Unfortunately, I don’t have space for a bathtub in my current residence, but I’m actively looking for my dream house. Ideally, it’s in an old industrial building, an old school, or something new being built by the water where I can have my studio upstairs and paint while overlooking the water. Once I find the dream house, the bathroom will be in natural stone, and the bathtub and sink will match the colour of the walls and floors, in a subdued grey-beige shade. 13
