Gig Weyes Blood Channeling the likes of Karen Car
penter and Aimee Mann, Weyes Blood (Natalie Mering) has been steadily building a fanbase which last saw her here in the Button Factory in 2019. Pandemic road bump aside, Mering released the second of her trilogy of albums this year, And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow. There’s a nod to 1970s Laurel Canyon folk-pop in her melodies as she grapples with personal and societal issues of our times. Valentine’s comes two days early in ’23. Vicar Street, Sunday February 12, €28.50 Exhibition The Irish Aesthete: Ten Years in the Making Robert O’Byrne has been the plummy toned gatekeeper of our architectural heritage for some time now. Through his blog, he has taken over 50,000 photographs of everything from country houses to cottages, from industrial buildings to ancient monasteries, from garden follies to graveyards. Now he is handing over the images to the Irish Architectural Archive and in celebration of his achievements and dedication to our past, a selection of them will be on display. An atmospheric tour de force, it finds finds Valerie (Jolly Abraham) spellbound by an evening of ghostly stories from the local bachelors at a small country bar. Their tales, both funny and chilling, are a mesmerising mixture of rumour and local legend. However, much to their surprise, she has her own story to tell.
