PROUDLY SPONSORED BY MEGA MELTY - SONS OF BUTCHER
S Having made the switch from tending herds to planting herbs a couple of years back, fourth-generation master butchers Loughnanes have just added plant based cheese to their popular meat-free range. Their Director of Production Eoin Loughnane, tells us tells us that their new Sons of Butchers’ grated ‘Notzarella’ and ‘Chedda Cheats’ slices are aimed at vegans and those looking to reduce their dairy intake without sacrificing the taste and texture of traditional cheeses. In addition to being puntastic, he reckons that their ‘mega-melty’ cheesy new additions pack a delicious and authentic taste that cheese lovers will enjoy, while also nicely complementing existing products in their top selling plant-based meat alternative range. @sonsofbutchers_ BEYOND THE PLATE COOL HANDS COFFEE WORKSHOPS Coffee supremos Cool Hands have just launched a trio of introductory workshops aimed at novices and those looking to get themselves a good grounding in the art of coffee. Located in the historic environs of the City Assembly House, Row Wines comes from the accomplished stable of urban food maestros Marc and Conor Bereen. The brothers’ beautifully designed new venture is located next door to the premises that previously housed their iconic Coppinger Row restaurant. It specialises in a delicious array of organic, biodynamic and natural wines, with Chef Paddy Maher busy dishing up a fine selection of locally sourced small plates to match. Musical bangers come served on vinyl, courtesy of renowned ‘DJ’s DJ’ Billy Scurry, with sound design by Toby Hatchett. Wine. Food. Vinyl. Repeat… Bookings via Open Table. @rowwines As we head towards mid-summer and the longest day of the year, the organisers of Beyond the Pale have cultivated an incredible line-up to help celebrate the ancient Celtic traditions of folklore, feasting and festivals. While the awe-inspiring Grace Jones makes us all slaves to the rhythm, curator Ali Dunworth has invited some of the country’s most enduring and passionate advocates of food and drink to join her for some tasty discussions as part of the fascinating food section of the programme, where she’ll be reflecting on the origins of how we eat and feast here in Ireland and beyond. Expect plenty of tasting, talking and testing as Beyond The Plate explores a rich heritage of food and folklore, taking in topics such as foraging, fires, storytelling, and music along the way. The company looks great too, with food lovers Andy Noonan, Aoife Carrigy, Kevin Thornton, Jess Kelly, and cocktail maker Dave Mulligan amongst those on hand to make it a pre-Summer Solstice gathering to remember. The three day festival takes place from June 16th to 18th in the beautiful surroundings of Glendalough Estate. Tickets available at itsbeyondthepale.ie 39
