Our Way 1
EDITORIAL ARE THE WINDS OF CHANGE BLOWING OUR WAY
? Published by Soya Group T his year, this magazine Our Way celebrates its 10-year anniversary. However, doing things “Our Way” has a far longer history. Next year, Rederi AB Soya has reached its 90th anniversary and all those years equal the amount of time we have chosen to always follow our own way. Our founder, Olof Wallenius, began his barrel-trading business already in 1922, which means that we have already passed the landmark of 100 years of Our Wallenius Way. BEING A FORERUNNER or a pioneer, by focusing on development, you need to be open to constant change. To bring forward development you need to be open to change. In this Our Way issue, a great number of ongoing projects in our group companies are presented. All with the possibility to bring about changes, great or small, and in many different aspects and areas. THE CONTRIBUTION TO change is more obvious in some cases, such as the next step for Oceanbird with two coming wing sail prototypes to be placed onboard and onshore. But also, smaller steps such as investing in multiple all-electric vehicles and an all-electric horse truck can make a difference. A DIFFERENT TYPE of change can also be to invest in people’s everyday living environment. A year ago, the first tenants in Papayan moved in and a few months ago art was added to the inside and outside of the building. Recently, the work lounge Magneten was inaugurated. This new common meet-and-greet area at the head office invites all co-workers to get together and share thoughts and ideas, regardless of which company you work for. In addition to this we also work actively for a change in areas such as biodiversity and digital technology such as blockchain solutions. THE WILL AND tradition to try new things is significant for Soya Group. We like to be seen as a forerunner or a pioneer and often take things to a new level showing that even more is possible. Sometimes, investments need a bit of extra time to show their potential, but that’s OK. Ideas we believe in are worth that extra mile!
