BIOINNOVATION STRATEGIC AGENDA 1
- 2 - 2.1 The role of the bioeconomy in achieving
the global sustainability goals The Global Sustainable Development Goals, Agenda 2030, is the most ambitious sustainable development agenda the countries of the world have ever adopted. In principle, bioeconomy relates to all of the 17 sustainability goals, but eight of them are considered to affect the bioeconomy to a particularly high degree. However, neither bio-based nor circular systems are automatically sustainable. Therefore, to ensure sustainable development in the creation of new bio-based solutions as well as circular systems, we must also consider the environmental, social and economic factors. Figure 3. Eight global sustainability goals where a circular bioeconomy can make a particularly big difference. 8
