Resident DJs Michele Savini and Kike Martinez hold the fort while tonights special guests are the wonderfully named Mr. Cyriac Kurios from The Main Ingredient Radio Show and John Brereton, guitarist with Indie band Sack and the editor of this very publication. DJ KOCO AKA SHIMOKITA + BEN* - THE SUGAR CLUB - OCT 20TH If Defected Records are touting a set as their ‘DJ Set of The Year’ then it’s time to sit up and check out the perpetrator. DJ Koco (aka Shimokita) is that man (courtesy of his Glitterbox Virtual Festival set) and he’s in The Sugar Club for a one off performance. His technical abilities are near flawless and he is mesmerising to watch. With prestigious live appearances under his belt such as the Do-Over Tokyo, the Vinyl Destination Tour with DJ Jazzy Jeff and Bastid’s BBQ Taipei, this is a hot tip. LUKE UNA & BILLY SCURRY BACK2BACK - THE SUGAR CLUB - OCT 27TH Beginning his career as an original Sheffield house young blood in the mid 1980’s, Luke moved to Manchester and with fellow Unabomber Justin Crawford saw the birth of the infamous Electric Chair nights. Luke’s much loved, long running Homoelectric night and more recently Homobloc sell out festival for 10,000 souls has been at the forefront of Manchester’s LGBTQ cultural landscape. His set at Another Love Story last year was all sorts of epic and he’s joined on the night by his longtime friend and Dublin’s master in the mix Billy Scurry, a pioneer of the Irish club scene. HONEYPOT - WIGWAM - OCT 27TH Honeypot, Dublin’s first electronic club night for gay girls and friends, takes over the full venue of Wigwam for a jampacked Halloween party: Honeypot 009: Call Your Ghoulfriend. Upstairs will have frighteningly fun performances from Puzzy Wrangler and Honeypot co-founder Rhyzine. Those who are brave enough to venture down to the basement can dance the night away to spine-tingling sets from ÓIR and Rosita. It’s been a busy summer for the collective with two sell-out parties, a stage takeover at All Together Now and two collaborative events with Slaughterhouse Dublin and 1815 FC so make sure you don’t miss this one. Tickets available from residentadvisor.com CIRCLES - INDEX - OCT 29TH Circles 2023 edition, featuring an appearance from Underground Resistance who showcase Mark Flash, the first UR show in Dublin for many years alongside legendary Techno figure [& UR associate] Robert Hood, the high-octane LSDXOXO, a rare live set from D1 Recordings Americhord, a live set also from Christopher Coe, who runs the Awesome Soundwave label w/ Carl Cox, local hero EMA & up & coming, one to watch Sahana at the new Index venue, Liberty Lane (back of Opium, Wexford St). A LOVE FROM OUTER SPACE - THE SOUND HOUSE - NOV 10TH Its ten years since Andrew Weatherall & Sean Johnson’s ALFOS rolled into town (the Twisted Pepper was the venue on that occasion), a clubnight founded on a shared love of slower paced sounds from dub to Italo, Balearic to synthwave, and hatched with a broad – but firm – remit: never knowingly exceed 122 BPM. Other than that, it was all gates open. Weatherall’s death in 2020 has left a void of musical greatness but Sean Johnston continues to nurture Andrews memory and tonight he plays a 5 hour set. MANO LE TOUGH - CENTRE POINT @ THE BUTTON FACTORY - NOV 17TH Mano Le Tough is an Irish DJ, producer and label owner known for his creative approach to combining techno, house and ambient sounds. Outside of his solo work, Mano Le Tough has collaborated with Tale Of Us and Maceo Plex, and also co-runs the label Maeve with The Drifter and Baikal. He has held residencies at Berghain and Trouw, and in 2014 Mixmag placed him number eight in its Top 100 DJs. PAGE 6
