BOOKS: Over thirty published titles: novels, poetry and picture books. Translated into some ten languages. CREATIVE SIGNATURE: Often writes about turning points in young people’s lives and personal relationships in a world marked by barriers and prejudice. FUN FACTS: If she had not been a writer, she would have liked to be a basketball player. Her book Miracle’s Boys was made into a six-episode TV show in America. It was recorded in Harlem and Spike Lee was one of the directors.
