ION ELEKTA ACQUIRES KAIKU HEALTH AstraZeneca’s BioVentureHub has established a new collaboration with medtech company Mölnlycke to support knowledge exchange across the Swedish life science industry. ELEKTA WILL FURTHER DEVELOP ITS FOCUS ON CANCER CARE PROVIDERS AND THEIR PATIENTS THROUGH ITS ACQUISITION OF THE FINNISH COMPANY. for its app that monitors patient-reported outcomes, providing intelligent symptom tracking and management for healthcare providers in routine oncology care and studies. The Kaiku Health app screens for patients’ symptoms, notifies the care team on their development and provides value-based personalized support for patients. It is easily implemented into existing hospital information systems and can be integrated with Elekta’s MOSAIQ Oncology Information System (OIS). Kaiku Health has modules for more than 25 types of cancer across different cancer care pathways. It is currently in use in over 40 European cancer clinics and hospitals. The acquisition took effect on May 15, 2020, with Elekta owning 100 percent of Kaiku Health. enterprises (SMEs) connected to BioVentureHub will be offered free consultations with Mölnlycke experts with regard to developing products and solutions featuring medical device components. “With increasing focus on precision medicine, patient centricity and preventative care, we need to think differently when we are designing healthcare solutions for the future. The collaboration, which has no financial, legal or contractual obligations, aims to support knowledge exchange, strengthen innovation opportunities for future, integrated, drug-device therapies, and stimulate growth of SMEs.
