Ingrosso comes back to Stockholm Celebrity restau
rateur Emilio Ingrosso is bringing his concept La Perla home to Sweden and Stockholm. Together with his wife Åsa, and the owners of the restaurant Usine, they will open near Södra Station, in a space located next door to Usine. It will soon be 17 years since Emilio Ingrosso left Restaurang Il Conte at Grevgatan to instead find his fortune in Palma, Mallorca. “I just wanted to try something new. We went through three different restaurant concepts before we found our way to La Perla. When Åsa and I created La Perla together, we knew instantly that it would become a success. She brought her sense for design and interiors, and I contributed with my views on service and taste.” It has now grown to be four restaurants in Mallorca, and now the time has come to expand into Stockholm. The address is Södermalmsallén 36-38 and the opening is a collaboration with Usine. “We have been trying to persuade Emilio and Åsa for several years. Since Emilio’s brother Nicola works with us, there’s a natural connection,” says Tim Karlsson at Usine. In connection with the return to Sweden, the Ingrossos will also be releasing a cookbook. “It was really about time to capture the essence of La Perla in a book. There is so much to recount and so many great recipes to share that we really thought it was time to put it in between the covers of a book,” explains Emilio. Furniture and wine at Stockholmsverken Gemla wine bar and studio is a collaboration between sommelier Anna Mellfors and furniture maker Benny Hermansson, and it’s the newest addition to the restaurant lineup in the Stockholmsverken district. It’s a combined restaurant and furniture store that opened in mid-October, with natural, sustainable and artisanal being the watchwords. The concept combines hand-made furniture and craft wine. “At long last we can open up one of my dreams. A creative meeting point for architects and clients during the day and an obvious place to come in the evenings and weekends for everyone who loves honest wine and good food,” says Benny Hermansson, who otherwise runs Gemla Möbelfabrik. Gemla Vinbar och Studio, Magnus Ladulåsgatan 8D. As well as Gemla, Phil’s Burger will also open up in this district shortly. Surfing new waves After six years at Regeringsgatan and three summers in Humlegården, Surfers are now moving on to a new location. The Surfers adventure began in 2006, when Mymlan Isenborg and Jonathan Bergström opened their first restaurant in Visby. Now they’re moving into a new location at Norrlandsgatan 24 in Stockholm. “We not only have a lot more seats because of this new move but also a larger kitchen with greater possibilities. We are so happy to finally be able to wok, grill and steam,” Mymlan Isenborg says. Nilas Corneliusson will be running the kitchen at Surfers. He’s got extensive experience with Chinese cuisine. Surfers will, away from their kitchen, offer their guests an authentic experience when it comes to Chinese drinks. “An important part of what we want to accomplish at our new address is to increase both our own knowledge and understanding of Chinese food culture, as well as our guests’. To succeed in this we have acquired unique expertise in the form of Ludvig Sääf, also known as Mr Baijiu. In our new premises you will have the opportunity to visit Ludvig for tasting ceremonies, or to try the various Baijiu styles and even sing Chinese drinking songs together with the chili-rich dishes the kitchen serves,” Mymlan Isenborg, continues. 21
